Job summary

Curve Recruitment are partnering with a reputable main contractor in Colchester to appoint an Assistant Design Manager. The role supports the design management team from pre-construction through to project completion, coordinating multiple design packages and liaising with architects and subcontractors.

Qualifications

• Degree or HNC/HND in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering (preferred)
• Experience in design coordination or assistant design management within construction
• Experience with main contractor is advantageous
• Good understanding of construction methods, design processes and building regulations
• Strong organisational and communication skills
• Ability to coordinate multiple design packages and meet deadlines
• Proficiency in IT; MS Office; exposure to AutoCAD, Revit or BIM platforms desirable
• Proactive, solutions-focused approach to problems
• Ability to build strong working relationships with consultants, subcontractors and internal teams
• Full UK driving licence

Responsibilities

• Assisting with the management and coordination of the design process from pre-construction through to completion
• Reviewing drawings, specifications and submissions for accuracy and compliance
• Liaising with architects, consultants, subcontractors and internal teams
• Supporting the preparation and management of design programmes to hit deadlines
• Attending design team meetings, progress reviews and site meetings
• Identifying and helping resolve design queries, clashes and issues
• Ensuring design information is issued in line with construction programmes
• Coordinating design information between consultants and specialist subcontractors
• Assisting with design compliance, building regulations and project specifications
• Working with the Design Manager to deliver successful projects
