Job summary

Knightwood Associates Limited in London is recruiting an Assistant Design Manager to oversee the design coordination of multiple commercial schemes. The role focuses on managing the full design process from pre-construction through to project completion, with emphasis on architectural engineering bias for refurbishment projects.

You will review structural and architectural information, lead consultant meetings, and ensure compliance with UK Building Regulations.

Assistant Design Manager - Central London

Our client, a well-established main contractor with an excellent reputation for delivering complex commercial refurbishment and cut & carve projects across Central London, is looking to appoint an Assistant Design Manager with a architectural engineering bias to join their growing team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an Assistant Design Manager looking to work on high-profile commercial schemes involving major structural alterations, heavy refurbishment and high-specification fit out projects within challenging city-centre environments.

Reporting directly to a Design Manager, you will play a key role in managing and coordinating the design process from pre-construction through to project completion across multiple commercial projects.

Key responsibilities include:

• Managing and coordinating the full design process across multiple commercial schemes
• Reviewing structural, architectural and consultant design information
• Leading consultant coordination meetings and driving design team performance
• Identifying and resolving buildability, sequencing and technical challenges
• Managing design programmes and information release schedules
• Liaising closely with clients, consultants, subcontractors and site teams
• Ensuring compliance with current UK Building Regulations and statutory requirements

This role would either suit either an existing Assistant Design Co-ordinator from a main contractor background with previous experience delivering commercial refurbishment and cut & carve projects, or a jobrunning Architect with commercial project delivery experience.
