Job summary

Ridgeway & Co Recruitment is seeking an experienced Design Manager to join a main contractor delivering construction projects in Harlow, Essex. The role focuses on leading the design process, coordinating architects, structural and M&E consultants, and managing design programmes to ensure timely project delivery.

The successful candidate will have strong knowledge of building regulations, design coordination, and the ability to resolve complex design issues while maintaining programme integrity

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Design Manager within a main contractor environment.
• Strong background in coordinating architectural, structural and M&E design.
• Ability to manage design programmes and approvals to tight construction timelines.
• Experience directing external design consultants and multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Managing the design process from pre-construction through to project completion.
• Coordinating architects, engineers and design consultants.
• Developing and managing design programmes, submissions and approvals.
• Identifying and resolving technical design issues throughout the project lifecycle.
• Ensuring design information is coordinated and issued in line with programmes.
• Working with site teams to ensure smooth project delivery and compliance.
• Reviewing design information for building regulations compliance and standards.
• Monitoring progress and design risks to meet key deadlines.
