Skilled Careers in London seeks an experienced Senior Design Manager for a major Main Contractor on a £75 million CAT B commercial fit-out project in Central London. The role is site-based and offers a salary of £85,000–£95,000 plus package.

You will lead and coordinate the design process, liaising with clients, consultants and internal teams to ensure design packages are delivered on time and to programme, with strong technical control and risk management.

Senior Design Manager – Main Contractor

An established, privately owned Main Contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Design Manager to work on a major £75 million commercial and retail cut-and-carve refurbishment and CAT B fit-out project in Central London.

The business has an annual turnover of approximately £150 million and specialises in technically complex commercial refurbishment and fit-out projects across London, predominantly operating under Design & Build contracts.

The Role

As Senior Design Manager, you will lead and coordinate the design process, working closely with clients, consultants, subcontractors and internal project teams.

Responsibilities will include managing multidisciplinary design packages, chairing design meetings, monitoring design programmes and ensuring technical information is compliant, coordinated and buildable.

You will also be responsible for resolving technical challenges, identifying design risks and supporting the successful delivery of the project.

The Candidate

The successful candidate will have previous experience as a Senior Design Manager or experienced Design Manager within a recognised main contractor.

Strong experience delivering CAT B commercial office fit-out, cut-and-carve refurbishment or complex commercial projects is essential.

You should have excellent technical knowledge, strong client-facing skills and experience managing consultant and subcontractor design packages throughout the construction process.
