Holy Family Catholic Academy in Platt Bridge is hiring an Assistant Cook to join our catering team. You will prepare and serve nutritious meals for pupils and support daily lunch service.

Working up to 30 hours per week during term time plus one week, you will ensure food safety, participate in menu planning, and help reduce waste while fostering a positive dining experience for every child.

£26,427 to £28,153 pro-rata (actual salary £18,348 to £19,546)

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Assistant Cook to join our friendly catering team and help us deliver delicious, high-quality meals that our pupils look forward to every day.

Working in partnership with Food For Thought Merseyside Ltd, a not-for-profit school meals company committed to promoting the wellbeing of children through excellent food, you'll help create a positive dining experience whilst supporting the health and wellbeing of our pupils.

About the Role

As Assistant Cook, you will work alongside our School Cook to:

1. Prepare and serve fresh, nutritious meals for our pupils.
2. Help maintain the highest standards of food safety, hygiene and kitchen organisation.
3. Support menu delivery and the preparation of daily specials.
4. Assist with stock control, ordering and reducing food waste.
5. Promote healthy eating and help make lunchtimes enjoyable for every child.
6. Step into a leadership role when required to cover the School Cook's absence.

Hours and Flexibility

This role is up to 30 hours per week. The advertised salary is based on 30 hours per week, with the normal working pattern being:

8:30am - 1:30pm, Monday to Friday
