Lemon Drizzle Recruitment in Gateshead is recruiting an Assistant Contracts Manager for a growing North East joinery specialist. The role combines office/workshop work with regular visits to construction sites across the North East, supporting projects from order to completion.

This full-time position offers progression toward a Contracts Manager role, with exposure to varied joinery projects and direct collaboration with management, clients and trades on site.

Responsibilities

• Visiting live construction sites to monitor progress and site readiness.
• Liaising with clients, Site Managers, installers, suppliers and subcontractors.
• Coordinating deliveries and installation requirements.
• Chasing drawings, approvals, RFIs and outstanding information.
• Taking site photographs, notes and basic measurements.
• Keeping clear action lists and project updates.
• Identifying potential issues, delays and variations early.
• Helping resolve straightforward project issues and escalating when necessary.
• Gradually taking ownership of smaller projects from order through to completion.

£32,000-£40,000 + Electric Van - Permanent

Full time - 7am - 4pm Monday - Thursday, 7am - 1pm Friday.

Are you working in construction and looking for an opportunity to step into Contracts Management? We're recruiting an Assistant Contracts Manager for a growing North East business specialising in the manufacture and installation of bespoke joinery products. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone early in their career who is ambitious, practical and keen to progress. You don't need to be an experienced Contracts Manager - attitude, initiative and potential are more important than having the perfect CV.

Working directly alongside the Director, you'll become the eyes and ears across a number of live projects, helping to keep jobs organised, clients informed and projects moving. The role combines office/workshop-based work with regular visits to construction sites across the North East.

What you'll be doing

Who we're looking for

You could currently be working as an Assistant Contracts Manager, Project Coordinator, Site Supervisor, Assistant Site Manager or in another construction-related role and looking for your next step. Experience within bespoke joinery, construction or commercial fit-out would be advantageous, but we're equally interested in someone with the right attitude and potential to develop.

You’ll need to be:

• Proactive, organised and confident
• Comfortable visiting sites and speaking with clients and trades
• Happy to pick up the phone and chase information
• Able to manage several priorities at once
• Practical, with good common sense and a willingness to take ownership
• Keen to learn and progress
• In possession of a full UK driving licence
