Southampton City Council is seeking a permanent full-time Assistant Service Development Officer to join their commissioning team focused on transformational change in adult social care. The role involves supporting service redesign, contract management, and market development, requiring strong commissioning experience and a relevant degree. You will join a new commissioning team focused on delivering transformational change and service improvement for residents. The portfolio includes leading commissioning, service redesign, and development of home care, care homes, and housing with care options. Collaboration with social care providers, health services, and the Integrated Care Board will be key, focusing on initiatives like the Better Care Fund, hospital discharge, and admission avoidance. Other responsibilities include developing community equipment services and integrating Care Technology into health and care pathways.

The Assistant Service Development Officer will support transformational change and performance management of commissioned services. You will assist in the entire commissioning cycle, including planning, service redesign, contract management, and market development, such as working with the Care Market Oversight team to develop the personal assistant market for direct payment users.

We seek a highly motivated individual with a proven track record in commissioning and the ability to handle a substantial, varied workload. You should have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field, with excellent knowledge of government policies related to the role.
