Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a permanent full-time Assistant Service Development Officer to join Southampton City Council (SCC) within the new commissioning team for Living and Ageing Well.
About Southampton:

Southampton is a city of hope, history, and diversity, located on the South Coast within an hour of London, twenty minutes to the New Forest, and 30 minutes to beaches of Bournemouth and Poole.

The city boasts a vibrant arts and music scene, a premiership football club, and an international port. Despite challenges like austerity and the cost-of-living crisis, Southampton remains an exciting and eclectic community.

About the team:

You will join a new commissioning team focused on delivering transformational change and service improvement for residents. The portfolio includes leading commissioning, service redesign, and development of home care, care homes, and housing with care options. Collaboration with social care providers, health services, and the Integrated Care Board will be key, focusing on initiatives like the Better Care Fund, hospital discharge, and admission avoidance. Other responsibilities include developing community equipment services and integrating Care Technology into health and care pathways.

This role offers the chance to be at the forefront of our Adult Social Care transformation journey, with opportunities for professional growth within a supportive culture.

About the role:

The Assistant Service Development Officer will support transformational change and performance management of commissioned services. You will assist in the entire commissioning cycle, including planning, service redesign, contract management, and market development, such as working with the Care Market Oversight team to develop the personal assistant market for direct payment users.
