Job summary

South Gloucestershire Council is seeking an Assistant Commissioning Officer to join the Relationship team within the Partnerships and Commissioning Service. You will support the delivery and development of commissioned social care services, ensuring high quality, responsive outcomes for residents.

Responsibilities

  • Support the commissioning and delivery of services by reviewing plans and maintaining accurate records of referrals, contracts, placements, expenditure and provider information.
  • Gather and report on service user feedback, analyse service data and research best practice to support service development.
  • Provide administrative support to assigned projects, ensure reports are compiled and records are accurate.
  • Provide advice and guidance on policies, procedures and processes to customers, partners and colleagues.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with providers, services and colleagues for clear, timely communication.

How you'll make a difference

As an Assistant Commissioning Officer, you will join the Partnerships and Commissioning Service as part of the Relationship team. Working closely with social care colleagues and service providers, you will support the delivery and ongoing development of commissioned services, helping to ensure they are high quality, effective and responsive to the needs of residents.

Through building positive relationships and contributing to service improvement initiatives, you will play an important role in promoting positive outcomes and continuous improvement across commissioned services.

What you will be doing
  • Working closely with with colleagues, partners, service users and carers, you will support the commissioning and delivery of services by reviewing plans and maintaining accurate records of referrals, contracts, placements, expenditure and service provider information.
  • It will be your responsibility to gather and report on service user feedback, analyse service data, and research best practice to support service development.
  • You will provide a wide range of administrative support to assigned projects, ensuring written reports are compiled, support is provided, and records are accurate.
  • Using your expertise, you will provide advice and guidance on policies, procedures and processes to customers, partners and colleagues, supporting consistent and effective service delivery.
  • A key aspect of your role will be building and maintaining effective relationships with a wide range of providers, services and colleagues, ensuring the clear and timely communication of important information.
What we need from you
  • We require you to have previous experience gained from working within an organisation responsible for commissioning in social care or a similar service.
  • You will hold a level 3 qualification, ideally in social or health care.
  • It is essential that you have strong interpersonal skills, enabling you to build and maintain positive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, contacts and customers.
  • You will be able to collate and interpret information from multiple sources to present clear and accurate findings.
  • Given the nature of this work, you will be well organised with excellent time management skills and the ability to effectively manage competing priorities.
What you need to know
  • This is a part-time role of 18.5 hours per week, working Wednesday afternoon and all day Thursday and Friday.
  • Salary is pro-rata to hours worked.
  • This role is hybrid, with a mixture of working at our office in Yate and working from home.
