Job summary

Carrington West is seeking an Assistant Civil Engineer to join our Cambridge team. You will support the design and delivery of civil engineering projects across residential, commercial and infrastructure developments, gaining experience in highways, drainage and S278/S38 schemes.

You will work alongside experienced engineers, develop your AutoCAD and Civil 3D skills, and receive ongoing support toward ICE professional accreditation, with a clear path for career progression in a growing

Qualifications

• HND, BEng, MEng or MSc in Civil Engineering.
• Experience in civil engineering consultancy.
• Experience in highways, drainage and infrastructure design.
• Knowledge of S278/S38, SuDS and DMRB.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D or equivalent 3D design software.
• Experience liaising with developers, architects and local authorities.
• Strong communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Support the design of drainage systems, highway layouts and S278/S38 schemes.
• Produce technical designs in accordance with industry standards, including Sewers for Adoption, SuDS Manual, Manual for Streets and DMRB.
• Prepare accurate engineering drawings, technical reports and design packages.
• Liaise with developers, architects, local authorities and other stakeholders throughout project delivery.
• Work closely with senior engineers to ensure projects are delivered on time and to a high technical standard.
• Use AutoCAD, Civil 3D and other engineering software to develop practical design solutions.
• Take responsibility for designated elements of projects whilst developing your project coordination and management skills.
• Support business development activities and building relationships with clients and industry professionals.

What You'll Need

To be considered for this Assistant Civil Engineer opportunity, you will ideally have:

• An HND, BEng, MEng or MSc in Civil Engineering.
• Experience within a civil engineering consultancy.
• Experience in highways, drainage and infrastructure design.
• Knowledge of relevant design standards and guidance, including S278/S38 agreements, SuDS and DMRB.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D or equivalent 3D design software.
• Experience liaising with developers, architects and local authorities.
• Strong communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
• The ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• An interest in working towards ICE professional accreditation.
