Job summary

Delano London is opening in late 2026, inviting an experienced Assistant Chief Engineer to join the pre-opening team. You will support the Chief Engineer, supervise engineers, and coordinate maintenance, safety and compliance across the property to deliver a safe, guest-focused environment.

You will oversee building services, manage contractors, and contribute to budgeting and energy management while collaborating with housekeeping, security and F&B teams.

Qualifications

• Experience as Assistant Chief Engineer or similar role in luxury hospitality.
• Strong knowledge of building services and maintenance.
• Familiar with HVAC, electrical, mechanical, plumbing and water systems.
• Experience managing engineering teams and contractors.
• Knowledge of statutory compliance and planned maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Support the Chief Engineer in day-to-day management of Engineering.
• Lead engineers and maintenance staff to high workmanship standards.
• Inspect guest rooms, public areas, plant rooms and services.
• Prioritise reactive maintenance and ensure timely repairs.
• Support preventive maintenance programmes.
• Monitor critical plant, HVAC, electrical, water systems and life-safety.
• Maintain records, asset registers and compliance documentation.
• Assist with inspections, testing and RAMS compliance.
• Supervise external contractors and ensure safe practices.
• Assist with budgeting, procurement and engineering spend.
• Collaborate with other departments to resolve issues.
• Participate in on-call and emergency response rota.
