Job summary

Delano London, opening in late 2026, seeks an exceptional Assistant Chief Engineer to join the pre-opening team. Reporting to the Chief Engineer, you will support planning and execution of maintenance and safety objectives across the property, oversee the engineering team and ensure all systems operate efficiently and safely.

Qualifications

• Experience in hotel, luxury hospitality, commercial building or high-end residential engineering.
• Experience supervising engineering teams and coordinating with contractors.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Good understanding of statutory compliance and planned maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Chief Engineer in day-to-day management of the Engineering Department.
• Lead and supervise engineers and maintenance colleagues with high workmanship standards.
• Carry out regular inspections of guest rooms, public areas and plant rooms.
• Manage reactive maintenance requests and ensure timely resolution.
• Support preventative maintenance programmes and energy/water monitoring.
• Maintain engineering records, asset registers and compliance documentation.
• Oversee safety systems including fire safety, emergency lighting and RAMS compliance.
• Coordinate with other departments to resolve operational issues.
