Job summary

Sofitel London-Heathrow, part of the Arora Group, seeks an Assistant Chief Engineer to lead our maintenance team in a 5-star hotel environment connected to Heathrow. You will oversee planned and reactive maintenance, supervision of engineers, and ensure safety and high standards across electrical, plumbing, mechanical and carpentry systems.

Ideal candidates will bring a recognised engineering qualification, pool plant operator qualification (preferred), and a proven track record in luxury hotel

Qualifications

• Recognised electrical or engineering qualification.
• Specialised expertise in plumbing, electrical, mechanical and carpentry fields.
• Pool plant operator qualification preferred.
• Strong knowledge of Health and Safety regulations and best practices.
• Experience with maintenance management software and MS Office applications.
• Proven track record in a similar role within a luxury hotel.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the maintenance team, including assigning tasks, providing guidance, and conducting performance evaluations.
• Coordinate delivery of planned and reactive maintenance services.
• Manage the maintenance budget, track expenses, forecast needs and optimise resources.
• Oversee renovations and projects, negotiate contracts and ensure timely completion within budget.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and best practices in maintenance.
• Collaborate with other departments to support hotel operations.
• Maintain and order parts, minimise waste and support sustainability initiatives.
• Address guest concerns promptly and attentively.
• Coach, train, and support the team to maintain high standards and drive improvements.
