Emberbrook Care Home in Thames Ditton is seeking an Assistant Chef to prepare nutritious meals for residents, considering dietary needs and preferences, while upholding high standards of hygiene and food safety.

You will collaborate with the Head Chef to plan menus, manage kitchen operations, and support staff, ensuring meals are served promptly and with attention to taste and nutrition.

Qualifications

• Experience in planning and preparing meals for residents.
• Ability to adapt recipes for dietary restrictions (diabetic, low-sodium, gluten-free).
• Maintains cleanliness and safety in kitchen operations.

Responsibilities

• Plan and prepare daily meals according to menus and residents' dietary requirements.
• Adapt recipes and menus to accommodate residents' dietary needs.
• Collaborate with Head Chef/Manager to develop menus and use seasonal ingredients.
• Monitor portion control and ensure meals meet nutritional value and presentation standards.
• Maintain a clean, organized kitchen and comply with health and safety regulations.
• Monitor stock levels and manage purchases to control costs.
• Supervise and train kitchen assistants or junior staff.
• Engage with residents to understand dietary preferences and note adjustments.
