Job summary

Healthcare Homes Holdings Limited is seeking an Assistant Chef for The Malthouse in Gillingham. You will assist the Head Chef, help run a kitchen catering for 33 residents, and work across week-based shift patterns.

Ideal candidates have professional kitchen experience, good organisation and knowledge of hygiene. City and Guilds/NVQ are preferred but not essential, with training available through our Academy.

Qualifications

• Experience in a professional kitchen and good organisation.
• Knowledge of food hygiene standards is essential or desirable.
• City and Guilds or NVQ qualifications are preferred but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Help manage the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence.
• Deliver high quality and wholesome dishes to standards.
• Manage stock control and wastage.
• Assist in leading and motivating a team.
• Support weekly menus, ordering and minimising wastage.

Assistant Chef

The Malthouse, Gillingham

£14.80 per hour

Week 1 - Mon & Weds 2pm - 7pm, Thurs 7am - 2pm, Fri 7am - 7pm

Week 2 - Weds 2pm - 7pm, Thurs & Fri 7am - 2pm, Sat & Sun 7am - 7pm.

If you are kind, compassionate and committed, we would love for you to work in collaboration with our Head chef and our kitchen team in our lovely residential home, The Malthouse, catering for 33 residents.

Specialising in residential support for the elderly, The Malthouse is a traditional building with a quirky and charming interior set in beautiful grounds with a courtyard and a private rear garden. Inside the home is a warm and homely atmosphere, and you'll be greeted by a care team who pride themselves on friendliness and caring.

What would a typical day look like?

• Help manage the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence
• Work to deliver high quality and wholesome dishes cooked at the highest quality and standards
• Manage stock control
• To assist in leading and motivating a team
• Support the Head Chef with writing and planning weekly menus, ordering as well as keeping wastage to a minimum.

The successful candidate will have experience in working in a professional kitchen, have good organisational skills and knowledge of good kitchen practices and food hygiene standards. City and Guilds or NVQ qualifications are preferred but not essential as they can be provided through our Academy.
