Job summary

The Malthouse, part of Healthcare Homes Group, is seeking a passionate cook to work with our Head Chef and kitchen team in a friendly residential home catering for 33 residents.

You will prepare high-quality meals, help manage the kitchen in the Head Chef’s absence, supervise stock, and assist in planning weekly menus while minimising waste. City and Guilds or NVQ quals preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience in a professional kitchen.
• 2) Good organisational skills and knowledge of food hygiene standards.
• 3) City and Guilds or NVQ qualifications preferred but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Help manage the kitchen in the Head Chef’s absence.
• Deliver high quality and wholesome dishes to residents.
• Manage stock control.
• Assist in leading and motivating a team.
• Support planning weekly menus, ordering, and minimising wastage.

If you are kind, compassionate and committed, we would love for you to work in collaboration with our Head chef and our kitchen team in our lovely residential home, The Malthouse, catering for 33 residents.

Specialising in residential support for the elderly, The Malthouse is a traditional building with a quirky and charming interior set in beautiful grounds with a courtyard and a private rear garden. Inside the home is a warm and homely atmosphere, and you’ll be greeted by a care team who pride themselves on friendliness and caring.

What would a typical day look like?

• Help manage the kitchen in the Head Chef’s absence
• Work to deliver high quality and wholesome dishes cooked at the highest quality and standards
• Manage stock control
• To assist in leading and motivating a team
• Support the Head Chef with writing and planning weekly menus, ordering as well as keeping wastage to a minimum.

The successful candidate will have experience in working in a professional kitchen, have good organisational skills and knowledge of good kitchen practices and food hygiene standards. City and Guilds or NVQ qualifications are preferred but not essential as they can be provided through our Academy.
