Job summary

Healthcare Homes is seeking a part-time Cook for Romford Grange, a care home providing residential, nursing and dementia care. You'll work 28.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 7am to 5.30pm, in a friendly kitchen team responsible for nutritious meals for 39 residents.

The role requires prior professional kitchen experience, strong organisational skills and knowledge of kitchen hygiene. City and Guilds or NVQ qualifications are preferred and may be provided.

Qualifications

• Experience working in a professional kitchen required.
• Good organisational skills and ability to follow hygiene standards.
• Knowledge of food hygiene and safety practices preferred.

Responsibilities

• Help manage the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence.
• Deliver nutritious and wholesome dishes to a high standard.
• Manage stock control and wastage.
• Assist in leading and motivating a team.
• Support Head Chef with weekly menus and ordering.

If you are kind, compassionate and committed, we would love for you to join our kitchen team in our lovely care home, Romford Grange, catering for 39 residents.

Romford Grange provides residential, nursing and dementia care to elderly people living in Romford. The staff at the home are very friendly and welcoming and spend a lot of time with the residents making sure they provide good quality, person-centred care every day.

What would a typical day look like?

• Help manage the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence


• Work to deliver nutritious and wholesome dishes cooked at the highest quality and standards


• Manage stock control


• To assist in leading and motivating a team


• Support the Head Chef with writing and planning weekly menus, ordering as well as keeping wastage to a minimum.

The successful candidate will have experience in working in a professional kitchen, have good organisational skills and knowledge of good kitchen practices and food hygiene standards. City and Guilds or NVQ qualifications are preferred but not essential as they can be provided through our Academy.
