Job summary

Codi is seeking a confident and passionate Assistant Chef to prepare delicious, nutritious meals for tenants at the CODI EXTRA CARE SERVICE in Cardiff. This part-time role (30 hours) supports the catering team, helping make mealtimes something residents eagerly look forward to.

You’ll work with the service manager and tenants, bring kitchen experience and a basic catering qualification, manage HACCP records and ensure safety standards.

Qualifications

• Kitchen experience in a professional fresh-food kitchen.
• Basic catering qualification (QCF/NVQ Level 2 or equivalent).
• Organised with eye for HACCP, hygiene and budgeting.
• Team player with a friendly, supportive approach.

Responsibilities

• Assist with menu planning, stock control and HACCP records.
• Ensure health, safety and food safety standards are met.
• Design menus that cater to cultural and dietary needs.
• Support the catering team to deliver daily meals for tenants.

Job description

We have an exciting opportunity where you can truly make a difference!!! We're looking for a confident and passionate chef to create delicious and nutritious meals for our valued tenants in our CODI EXTRA CARE SERVICE in Cardiff. As ASSISTANT CHEF you will play a key role in the catering team, supporting to make mealtimes something for the residents to really look forward to. This is a part time (30 hour) permanent position. Shift times aren't what you would usually expect if you are coming from hospitality…..Depending on what's best for this scheme…..you would rarely work past 3pm!!! Alternate weekends required. • Great communicator - You'll work closely with the Service Manager, food service assistants, and tenants. Being friendly and approachable is a must!
• Kitchen experience - You will need some experience working in a professional fresh-food kitchen and hold a basic catering qualification (QCF/NVQ Level 2 or equivalent).
• Organised and detail-focused - From chopping and mixing to paperwork, you'll handle menu planning, stock control, HACCP records, food hygiene compliance, and budgeting. You'll need to take pride in keeping the kitchen spotless and understand the importance of Health & Safety and Food Safety.
