Job summary

Matalan is seeking an Assistant Buyer to support the Branded Buyer in optimizing offers, sales, availability and profitability across the product area. You will assist in planning, pricing and promotional administration, collaborating with suppliers to secure best products at the right price and time.

You will manage daily admin, range ownership, and trade preparation, while supporting store visits and supplier events to identify opportunities and drive launches.

Qualifications

• Experience in an Assistant Buyer or TAB role, ideally in Fashion or Homewares.
• Commercial awareness and understanding of value fashion and branded customers.
• Strong organisational skills with ability to prioritise under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Support Branded Buyer in planning, pricing, and promotions.
• Manage daily admin tasks and ensure deadlines are met.
• Own End-to-End ranges and present them for sign-off.
• Assist in supervising Trainee Assistant Buyers with 121s.
• Prepare BI and Ecomm reports for trade meetings and trackers.
• Collaborate with Marketing and Ecommerce on launches and VM.
• Support supplier onboarding and track next steps.
