Job summary

Matalan is seeking an Assistant Merchandiser in the UK to review sales, stock and markdown levels and identify commercial opportunities for the market, supporting the team to optimise sales and profitability.

You will help with seasonal budgets, range plans and Open to Buy to respond to fast fashion trends, while coaching Trainees and collaborating with Buying & Design to deliver commercial ranges for customers.

Qualifications

• Proven experience of working as a high achieving Trainee Assistant or Assistant Merchandiser within a fashion and/or retail environment.
• Excellent commercial awareness.
• High standard of numerical ability.
• Exceptional data interpretation and analytical skills.
• High, consistent attention to detail, always striving to deliver good quality work to key deadlines.
• Ability to effectively communicate at all levels across the business.
• Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with customers and stakeholders.
• Excellent presentation and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Review sales, stock and markdown levels and identify commercial opportunities for the market to optimise sales and profitability.
• Assist in the preparation of seasonal budgets and range plans and plan Open to Buy to react to trends.
• Coach and guide Trainees within the team to ensure timely intake management and development.
• Collaborate with Buying & Design teams to develop and deliver commercial ranges for customers.
