Job summary

Express Recruitment are supporting a well-established organisation in appointing an Assistant Building Surveyor to assist with inspections, condition surveys, project delivery and contract management. You will work with senior surveyors and have structured development toward professional membership via the RICS Building Surveying pathway and APC.

Qualifications

• Experience in a building surveyor role, site work and drafting technical documentation.
• Degree or qualification in Building Surveying, Building Studies, Property or related discipline.
• Some practical experience in a building surveying, property, construction or estates environment is advantageous.
• Understanding of building construction, defects, maintenance and property condition assessment.
• Awareness of statutory and regulatory requirements including health and safety, fire safety, asbestos and accessibility.
• Carry out and assist with building, condition and measured surveys and inspections, producing reports and maintenance recommendations.
• Support design and technical documentation including CAD drawings, specifications, tender docs, planning/building control applications.
• Assist with project management and contract administration,-site monitoring, valuations, snagging and handovers.

Skills & Experience

• Experience in a building surveyor role, having conducted site work and drafted technical documentation
• Relevant qualification or degree in Building Surveying, Building Studies, Property or a closely related discipline
• Some practical experience within a building surveying, property, construction or estates environment would be advantageous
• Understanding of building construction, defects, maintenance and property condition assessment
• Awareness of relevant statutory and regulatory requirements, including health and safety, fire safety, asbestos and accessibility
• Carry out and assist with building, condition and measured surveys, inspections and building pathology assessments, producing accurate reports, schedules of condition and maintenance recommendations.
• Support design and technical documentation, including CAD drawings, specifications, tender documentation, feasibility studies and applications to planning and building control authorities.
• Assist senior surveyors with project management and contract administration, including site monitoring, progress reporting, valuations, snagging, handovers and project coordination.
• Support statutory compliance and asset management, including fire safety, asbestos, water hygiene, accessibility and building control, ensuring property records and compliance information remain accurate and up to date.
• Liaise with contractors, consultants, building users and other stakeholders, attending site meetings and supporting the successful delivery of maintenance, refurbishment and improvement projects.
