Job summary

Amey is recruiting an Assistant Building Structures Engineer to join the Advisory team in Consulting. You will lead and oversee the production of technically sound deliverables for Built Environment projects, which may be single or multi-discipline in scope.

The role involves collaboration with senior staff, site work on a visiting or temporary basis, and ensuring compliance with relevant standards and client requirements.

Qualifications

• Experience in building structures and delivering technical outputs.
• Assist senior staff in producing designs, calculations, drawings and documentation.
• Apply engineering theory and principles with appropriate supervision.
• Experience with Eurocodes and CDM 2015 compliance.
• Progress towards Incorporated or Chartered status.

Responsibilities

• Produce technically sound engineering solutions meeting standards and client requirements.
• Carry out general office duties to support the consultancy's smooth operation.
• Work on site on a visiting basis or temporary full-time role, including out-of-hours work.
• Meet budget targets and deadlines as directed by the manager (not responsible for project financial performance).

The Opportunity

We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Assistant Building Structures Engineer to join our Advisory team within Consulting.

With shared office space in Birmingham, Telford, Manchester, Stafford, Sheffield and Bristol, we welcome applications from Senior Engineers across these regions.

The role

As the Assistant Building Structures Engineer you will function as a team leader, providing and overseeing the production of technically sound deliverables for projects within the Built Environment portfolio. The portfolio may be single or multidiscipline projects.

Key Responsibilities Include

• To work in a team, assisting in the production of technically sound engineering solutions, complying with all relevant technical standards and client requirements
• General office duties associated with the smooth running of a consulting engineering business
• Working on site, either on a visiting basis or in a full time but temporary role and including out of hours working
• You will be expected to meet budget targets and deadlines set by your manager but will have no responsibility for the financial performance of the project

What You Will Bring To Us

• Building structures experience.
• Be able to assist senior staff in producing technically sound deliverables (designs, calculations, drawings, documentation).
• Application of engineering theory and principles with appropriate supervision.
• Experience of engineering software: 3D CAD software, Tekla Structural Designer and Tekla Tedds.
• Support compliance with technical standards, including Eurocodes, and CDM 2015.
• Clear communication with the team, mentors, and wider stakeholders.
• Show progression towards Incorporated or Chartered status with a relevant professional institution.
