Job summary

Amey is seeking a permanent Assistant Engineer (Bridges) to join the Amey Consulting Structures Team across multiple UK regions including Manchester, Sheffield, York and Newcastle. You will contribute to design, calculations, drawings and documentation for major civil infrastructure projects, while guiding junior staff and pursuing professional development.

Qualifications

• Graduate Engineer with relevant structures experience.
• Ability to produce technically sound solutions meeting applicable standards (DMRB, Eurocodes).
• Ownership of deliverables and quality checking before submission.
• Experience with structural design software such as LUSAS and Autodesk Structural Bridge Design.
• Commercial awareness and risk understanding applicable to civil projects.
• Good understanding of CDM and risk assessment in design and construction.

Responsibilities

• Producing technically sound engineering solutions.
• Managing and delivering projects from inception to completion.
• Preparing designs, calculations, drawings and scheme deliverables to meet quality, cost and programme criteria.
• Guiding and developing junior staff on similar tasks.
• Attending progress meetings and liaising with clients and suppliers.
• Driving health, safety and sustainability practices within the team.
• Contributing to bids and work-winning activities.
