Brook Street is seeking an Assistant Branch Manager for a busy builders’ merchants in Aberystwyth. You will support the Branch Manager, drive sales, and lead a motivated team in a fast-paced branch environment.

The role offers opportunities to contribute to growth and profitability, with a focus on customer service, supplier relationships, stock control, and staff development. Monday to Friday days plus 1 in 2 Saturday mornings.

Qualifications

• Proven management experience, ideally in a builders' merchant, retail, or trade environment.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Customer-first mindset with financial awareness.
• Organised, proactive and able to perform under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Support the Branch Manager in day-to-day operations and deputise when needed.
• Drive sales by identifying customer needs and maximise opportunities.
• Build relationships with customers and suppliers for first-class service.
• Help manage stock, merchandising, and supplier relationships.
• Monitor market trends and develop growth strategies.
• Support financial performance through stock control and cash collection.
• Lead, motivate and develop the branch team.
• Assist with recruitment, training, and staff development.
