Job summary

Jewson in Edinburgh (EH14 1NZ) is recruiting for an Assistant Branch Manager to join our busy branch. This full-time role runs Monday–Friday 7:30–17:00, with every other Saturday 08:00–12:00, supporting the Branch Manager to deliver strong sales, profitability and customer service while developing the branch team.

You will build relationships with customers, grow new and existing business, ensure high health and safety standards, and help maintain stock levels and deliveries.

Qualifications

• Experience in a sales or supervisory role within building materials or merchanting.
• Strong customer service focus and ability to develop relationships.
• Confident communicator with motivational leadership qualities.
• Excellent organisational skills and IT proficiency.
• Full UK driving licence required; forklift licence advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Support the Branch Manager in day-to-day operations and lead the team when required.

• Drive sales by developing new business, growing existing accounts and re-engaging lapsed customers.

We are recruiting for an Assistant Branch Manager to join our thriving Jewson branch in Edinburgh, EH14 1NZ.

This is a full-time role working Monday-Friday 7:30 –17:00, and every other Saturday from 08:00-12:00.

As an Assistant Branch Manager at Jewson, you will support the Branch Manager in delivering strong sales, profitability and customer service performance. You will help lead and develop the branch team, build strong customer relationships, grow new and existing business and ensure high standards of health, safety, stock management and operational compliance. You will also deputise for the Branch Manager when required and play a key role in driving the overall success of the branch.

• Monitoring branch performance against key targets, including sales, margin, customer satisfaction and operational compliance.
• Championing Health & Safety and creating a positive culture where colleagues and customers come first.

What We're Looking For

• Previous experience in a sales or supervisory role, ideally within the building materials, merchanting or trade sector.
• A passion for delivering outstanding customer service and building long-term customer relationships.
• Experience leading, coaching or supporting a team to achieve shared goals.
• Strong commercial awareness with the ability to identify opportunities to grow sales and improve branch performance.
• Confident communication skills and the ability to influence, motivate and manage challenging situations.
• Organised with good IT skills and the ability to prioritise a busy workload.
• A proactive, hands-on approach with a willingness to learn and continuously improve.
• A commitment to maintaining high standards of Health & Safety and operational compliance.
• A full UK driving licence is essential. Forklift licence, people management experience and knowledge of building materials are advantageous.
