Job summary

San Carlo Hale is seeking an Assistant Bar Manager to support the bar team and uphold service standards across busy shifts.

You will cover Bar Manager duties in their absence, lead shifts, manage stock and costs, and contribute to guest experiences in our award-winning UK venues.

Qualifications

• Experience in a similar role is required.
• Team management experience is essential.
• Excellent communication skills are necessary.
• Meticulous attention to detail and strong organisation are crucial.
• Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work with minimal direction.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Bar Manager and support efficient running of the bar department.
• Cover Bar Manager responsibilities in their absence.
• Fulfill bartender duties when needed.
• Monitor and drive spend per head in the department.
• Organise and run shifts as a duty manager.
• Keep bar consumables within budget and par levels.
• Own stock control, wastage, ordering, invoicing and maintenance.
• Produce a two-week rota and plan monthly forecasts.
• Assess staffing levels weekly and recruit as needed.
• Lead on bar recruitment and ensure a positive candidate experience.
• Onboard new staff with full restaurant training and CPL compliance.
• Maintain Talent Pipeline with training needs and succession plans.
• Conduct monthly health checks with an action plan and team delegation.
• Ensure Health & Safety policies and licensing requirements are met.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Bar Manager, to support the efficient running of the bar department
• Undertake all Bar Manager responsibilities in their absence
• Undertake all bartender responsibilities where relevant/needed
• Monitor and drive Spend Per Head in your department
• Effectively organise and run shifts as a duty manager
• Ensure that all Bar consumables are kept to par and are within budget spend
• Take responsibility for all Bar stock control including, wastage, ordering, invoicing, stock levels and maintenance in your department
• Ensure a two-week rota is available for the Bar team at all times, working a month in advance for forecast rota
• Ensure that team staff levels are assessed weekly and actively recruit if needed
• Take a lead on all Bar recruitment and ensure an excellent candidate experience throughout the process.
• Onboarding of new staff, including full restaurant training and all CPL compliance is completed
• Ensure your department has an up to date Talent Pipeline with training needs and succession plans
• Ensure health checks are conducted once a month with an action plan produced and delegated amongst the team to ensure completion
• Ensure all Health & Safety policies are met, including all legislative and licencing requirements
