San Carlo Bristol is seeking a Senior Sous Chef to lead the kitchen team and ensure exceptional standards of quality and service in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 2 years' experience in a similar senior kitchen role.
• Team management experience.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Meticulous, highly organised, with multi-tasking ability.
• Proactive self-starter able to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily kitchen operations including prep, cook, and plating.
• Ensure food quality and presentation before serving.
• Manage kitchen staff: hire, train, schedule.
• Maintain team engagement through 1:1s, incentives and recognition.
• Induct new starters per company procedures.
• Lead Sous Chefs to ensure training standards.
• Enforce food safety and sanitation guidelines.
• Manage inventory and orders.
• Maintain and repair kitchen equipment as needed.
• Collaborate with restaurant management to ensure timely service.
• Handle customer feedback related to food quality.
• Treat everyone with respect and stay calm.

Key Responsibilities

• Overseeing the daily operations of the kitchen, including food preparation, cooking, and plating.
• Overall responsibility of food quality and presentation, sent out to customers
• Managing kitchen staff, including hiring, training, and scheduling
• Maintaining a positive and engaged team through 1:1 meetings, incentives and recognition
• Inductions for all new starters in line with company procedure
• Manage the Sous Chefs to ensure all training is to company standards
• Ensuring that all kitchen staff follow food safety and sanitation guidelines and kitchen procedures
• Managing food inventory and ordering supplies as needed
• Ensuring that all kitchen equipment is properly maintained and repaired as needed.
• Collaborating with other kitchen staff and restaurant management to ensure that food is prepared and served in a timely manner
• Handling customer complaints or issues related to food quality or service
• Treat everyone with respect and remain calm at all times

Required Qualifications & Experience

• 2 year’s experience in a similar role
• Team management experience
• Excellent communication skills
• Meticulous attention to detail, highly organised and capable of handling multiple tasks
• A proactive self-starter who can work independently with good judgement and minimal direction
