Qualifications

  • 4+ years of bartending in high-volume, upscale hospitality.
  • Experience coaching or developing team members.
  • Strong knowledge of spirits, wine, beer and cocktails.
  • Commitment to responsible alcohol service and safety standards.
  • Excellent verbal English communication and guest service.
  • Legal right to work in the United Kingdom.

RH is seeking a knowledgeable and service-minded Assistant Bar Leader to help deliver a refined beverage experience that reflects the highest standards of hospitality. In this role, you will lead by example, guiding guests through each phase of their beverage journey while supporting the daily execution of RH's bar program. Working closely with location leadership, you will help uphold beverage quality, operational excellence, and service standards by coaching Team Members, reinforcing consistency and cultivating a culture of hospitality and craftsmanship. The ideal candidate is passionate about developing people, elevating the guest experience and expanding their expertise in wine, spirits, and cocktails within a culture of collaboration and continuous learning.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare and present cocktails, wine, beer, spirits, and coffee with consistent quality, accuracy and attention to detail
  • Create memorable beverage experiences by guiding guests through RH's beverage offerings with thoughtful recommendations, wine pairings and knowledgeable service
  • Lead by example during service, reinforcing RH's standards of hospitality, beverage quality and operational excellence
  • Coach, mentor and support bar and coffee Team Members through hands-on guidance, feedback and role modeling
  • Support location leadership in maintaining beverage quality, inventory accuracy, product quality, production, cleanliness and operational readiness
  • Maintain a clean, organized and fully stocked bar by replenishing and rotating inventory, glassware, garnishes and supplies to support uninterrupted service
  • Help coordinate opening and closing responsibilities to ensure the bar is prepared for service and properly secured at the end of each shift
  • Partner with location leadership to identify opportunities to improve service execution, operational efficiency and the overall guest experience
  • Process guest payments accurately using the point-of-sale system while maintaining confidentiality and compliance with cash handling procedures
  • Resolve guest concerns with professionalism, urgency, and sound judgment while escalating issues appropriately
  • Follow all responsible alcohol service guidelines and comply with applicable liquor laws and company policies
OUR REQUIREMENTS
  • 4+ years of bartending or relevant experience in a high-volume, upscale or luxury hospitality environment or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated experience coaching, mentoring or developing Team Members in a hospitality environment
  • Strong knowledge of spirits, wine, beer, classic and contemporary cocktails and responsible alcohol service practices
  • Passion for expanding knowledge of wine, spirits, cocktails and seasonal beverage offerings through ongoing learning and development
  • Understanding of beverage operations, inventory management, and service execution
  • Commitment to responsible alcohol service practices, food safety and sanitation standards, applicable regulations, and RH policies
  • Effective verbal communication in English is required to provide exceptional service to guests and collaborate with fellow Team Members.
  • Legal authorization to work in the country of application at the time of hire
  • Meets the minimum legal age required to serve alcohol, work designated shifts and perform the full scope of job responsibilities in accordance with local labor and safety regulations
  • Commitment to high standards of personal appearance, including adherence to uniform guidelines, grooming and hygiene practices to ensure a professional presentation to guests
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays and variable shifts as business needs require
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Frequent stooping, bending, and reaching, both overhead and below bar height
  • Lift or move items up to 25 kgs using appropriate equipment and safe handling techniques
  • Stand and walk for extended periods as part of daily work activities
  • Safely ascend and descend stairs, with or without carrying beverages, glassware or service equipment
  • Navigate busy, low-lit bar and dining environments with attention to safety and control
