Job Summary

We are looking to expand our team of Animal Technicians at our world-class facility in Tranent on a 12-month fixed-term contract.

We are a progressive and close-knit team, working hard to ensure the safety of new medicines targeting life-threatening and debilitating diseases. We are especially proud of our contribution to developing Covid-19 vaccines. We are passionate about our animals, striving to provide the best possible care with a culture of continuous improvement.

Candidates must have a passion for working with animals and share our commitment to their welfare. In this role, you will perform routine and moderately complex animal husbandry and clinical observations in a regulatory-compliant laboratory setting. You should have a minimum of 4 Nat 5 or equivalent qualifications.

In return, we provide all the necessary training and support. A positive attitude and a good work ethic are essential, as we need reliable individuals with a good attendance record.

This is a physically demanding role, so you need to be active and on your feet for most of the working day. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Husbandry duties and delivering essential care and well-being services to the animals
  • Positive interaction with animals, including providing treats, fruits, and vegetables
  • Participating in animal training programmes
  • Handling animals for procedures
  • Maintaining cleanliness and accurate records of the physical environment
  • Documenting animal behaviours and activities

We offer a competitive starting pay of £12 per hour (annual salary of £23,842), along with a comprehensive benefits package including an 8% employer contribution pension scheme, volunteering opportunities, and bonuses.
