Job summary

MERJE is seeking an Assistant Accountant to join a busy finance team in Lancashire. The role offers exposure to financial reporting, management accounts and business partnering while developing towards a professional accounting qualification.

You will work with Finance Business Partners, gaining broad accounting experience and developing commercial finance knowledge in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• AAT qualified or Part qualified CIMA/ACCA.
• Competent in Microsoft Excel and Office.
• Numerate with strong analytical skills.
• Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
• Able to use initiative and manage competing priorities.
• Confident communicator across departments.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts and finance packs.
• Support the month-end process, including accruals and prepayments.
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and bank reconciliations.
• Produce monthly cash flow forecasts.
• Process journals and cost reallocations.
• Support intercompany invoicing and recharges.
• Assist with project financial reviews and reporting.
• Review timesheet allocations for accurate costing.
• Provide financial information to support decision‑making.
• Assist with ad hoc finance tasks as required.
