Looking for a role that will accelerate your accounting career?

We\'re recruiting for an ambitious Assistant Accountant to join a growing and purpose-driven organisation based in Liverpool. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone studying towards an accounting qualification, or looking to continue their professional development, while gaining exposure to a broad range of management accounting and commercial finance responsibilities.

You\'ll work closely with an experienced finance team, gaining hands‑on involvement in management accounts, budgeting, forecasting, analysis and business partnering activities. What you\'ll be doing

This is a varied role that will give you exposure across multiple areas of finance, including:

• Producing weekly management accounts, KPIs and supporting analysis
• Assisting with the preparation of monthly management accounts
• Analysing financial performance and investigating variances against budgets and forecasts
• Completing bank reconciliations and cash reconciliations
• Preparing payroll analysis and associated journals
• Managing accruals and prepayments
• Producing balance sheet reconciliations and resolving discrepancies
• Supporting annual budgeting and forecasting processes
• Assisting with year‑end audit requirements and liaising with auditors
• Conducting internal audit reviews to strengthen financial controls
• Preparing supporting information for taxation calculations and reporting
• Working with stakeholders across the business to provide meaningful financial insight

About You

We\'re looking for someone who is motivated, eager to learn and keen to build a long‑term career in finance.

You\'ll ideally have:

• Previous experience within an Assistant Accountant or similar role
• Experience supporting or producing management accounts
• Strong Excel skills and confidence working with financial data
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships across the business
• Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
• The ability to work independently and manage competing deadlines
