Job summary

Sureserve is seeking an Assistant Accountant to support financial performance through accurate reporting, reconciliations, and analysis. You will work with finance and operational teams to maintain robust controls and provide insights for decision-making, with exposure to month-end processes and contract costing.

This varied role offers development in management accounting and business performance, contributing to the communities we serve in Liverpool. 37.5 hours/week, permanent contract.

Qualifications

• Actively studying towards a professional accounting qualification (CIMA/ACCA/ACA/CIPFA).
• Experience in an Assistant Accountant or similar finance role.
• Strong Excel skills and confidence working with financial systems.
• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong organisational and communication skills.
• Ability to build effective working relationships with stakeholders across the business.

Responsibilities

• Preparing prepayments, accruals and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Supporting month-end reporting and financial close processes.
• Producing financial analysis, including overhead and debtor reporting.
• Managing cash flow reporting and daily cash position updates.
• Processing timesheet journals, intercompany recharges and ad hoc bank payments.
• Reviewing employee expenses and company credit card transactions.
• Supporting contract costings, framework claims and income reconciliations.
• Maintaining order book reporting and producing management information.
• Preparing statutory and National Statistics reporting.
• Providing general accounting support and assisting with ad hoc finance activities as required.
