Job summary

Sureserve Group is seeking an Assistant Accountant to support reporting, reconciliations and financial analysis across the business. The role interfaces with finance and operations to ensure robust controls and informed decision-making.

This varied position offers exposure to month-end activities, cash flow management, and contract costing, ideal for someone developing accounting knowledge within a supportive team in Liverpool.

Qualifications

• Actively studying towards a professional accounting qualification such as CIMA, ACCA, ACA or CIPFA.
• Previous experience in an Assistant Accountant, Accounts Assistant or similar finance role
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills and confidence working with financial systems
• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
• Strong organisational and communication skills
• Ability to build effective working relationships with stakeholders across the business

Responsibilities

• Preparing prepayments, accruals and balance sheet reconciliations
• Supporting month-end reporting and financial close processes
• Producing financial analysis, including overhead and debtor reporting
• Managing cash flow reporting and daily cash position updates
• Processing timesheet journals, intercompany recharges and ad hod bank payments
• Reviewing employee expenses and company credit card transactions
• Supporting contract costings, framework claims and income reconciliations
• Maintaining order book reporting and producing management information
• Preparing statutory and National Statistics reporting
• Providing general accounting support and assisting with ad hoc finance activities as required
