Sureserve is seeking an Assistant Accountant to support financial performance through reporting, reconciliations and analysis. You will work with finance and operations teams to strengthen controls and enable informed decision-making.

The role covers month-end processes, cash flow management, contract costing and various reporting duties, offering clear progression for accounting professionals looking to deepen their experience in a vibrant organisation.

Qualifications

• Actively studying towards a professional accounting qualification (CIMA, ACCA, ACA or CIPFA).
• Experience in an Assistant Accountant, Accounts Assistant or similar finance role.
• Strong Excel skills and confidence with financial systems.
• Excellent attention to detail and problem solving.
• Strong organisational and communication skills; able to build relationships across the business.

Responsibilities

• Prepare prepayments, accruals and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Support month-end reporting and financial close processes.
• Produce financial analysis including overhead and debtor reporting.
• Manage cash flow reporting and daily cash position updates.
• Process timesheet journals, intercompany recharges and ad hoc bank payments.
• Review employee expenses and company credit card transactions.
• Support contract costings, framework claims and income reconciliations.
• Maintain order book reporting and produce management information.
• Prepare statutory and National Statistics reporting.
• Provide general accounting support and assist with ad hoc finance activities.
