Job summary

Trial Balance is recruiting an Assistant Accountant for a Penryn-based manufacturing company. The role is full-time onsite, with a possibility of four days per week for suitable candidates.

You will support month-end duties, VAT, Intrastat, and group reconciliations, plus management reporting, year-end statutory work, and payroll, requiring solid Excel and Sage knowledge and a collaborative approach.

Qualifications

• AAT qualification or equivalent experience in accounting.
• Strong Excel skills: pivot tables, VLOOKUPs and complex formulas.
• Knowledge of Sage and payroll processes is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with month-end duties including sales reports.
• Handle European VAT and Intrastat reporting and group reconciliations.
• Support management reporting, year-end statutory reports, and monthly management accounts.
• Maintain ledgers and payroll.

Trial Balance has been assigned exclusively by a repeat client, a very successful manufacturing business based in Penryn, to source a high calibre Assistant Accountant to join their friendly accounting team. The role is full time onsite, however 4 days per week would be considered for suitable candidates.

Your duties in this broad ranging position will include assisting with month end duties to include sales reports, European VAT and Intrastat reporting and group reconciliations; management reporting, assisting with the preparation of year end statutory reports, monthly management accounts, ledger maintenance and payroll.

This role would suit an AAT qualified applicant or a candidate with a similar level of workplace gained experience. You should be able to demonstrate a decent working knowledge of Excel, to include pivot tables, VLookups and complex formulas. Additionally the successful candidate will need a broad skillset in financial and management accounting principles, along with a collaborative working style and strong IT skills, ideally to include Sage.
