About The Role
Onward Homes is looking to recruit an
Assistant Accountant to join our finance team. This role is predominately a home-based role, where there is no daily requirement to attend an office but candidates will need to attend as required for team meetings, and collaborative working.
The purpose of this role is to provide support to the Management Accountants in providing a wide range of financial services including monthly management reporting, performance reports, statutory reports and budget production.
Responsibilities
- Accounting - Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and take appropriate action to ensure completeness and accuracy of monthly management information and year-end financial statements within prescribed timescales.
- Reporting - Assist the Management Accountants to deliver a management information reporting service to a high standard and within agreed deadlines reporting monthly financial performance for Onward and its regions.
- Systems - Use the Open Accounts system and other related systems to review and record transactions accurately and use the reporting to support numbers in the accounts ensuring full reconciliation to the general ledger.
- Process improvement - Support continual process improvement to deliver financial control and assurance across the group. Maintain a link between the analysis of data and other teams. Provide data assurance to ensure that information decisions are made at the right level.
- Linking - To support business stakeholders in providing ad hoc reports and dealing with ad hoc enquiries and assisting in ensuring the integrity and accuracy of financial data within the leasehold service charge statements.
Essential:
Skills, knowledge and experience
- Experience of working in finance
- IT skill – Microsoft Office, Excel at intermediate level
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with both financial and non-financial staff
- Numerate and ability to take responsibility of own work to completion
- Experience of managing transactional financial data
- Experience of delivering financial support to internal and external customers
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to meet deadlines
