Job summary

VANRATH in Lisburn is seeking an Assistant Accountant to join its finance team on a full-time, permanent basis. The role covers monthly management accounts, reconciliations, journals, balance sheets, budgeting and reporting with exposure to VAT and financial controls.

The ideal candidate is part-qualified (ACCA/CIMA/ACA or AAT or qualified by experience) with strong Excel skills and attention to detail, capable of handling multiple priorities in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Part-qualified ACCA, CIMA, ACA or AAT, or qualified by experience.
• Previous experience in an Assistant Accountant or similar finance role.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial controls.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts.
• Perform bank reconciliations and maintain accurate financial records.
• Process journals, accruals and prepayments.
• Assist with balance sheet reconciliations and month-end procedures.
• Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions when required.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting.
• Prepare VAT returns and support compliance with financial procedures.
• Work closely with the wider finance team to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of finance processes and controls.

What you'll do
