Confidential in Cambridge is seeking an Assistant Accountant to join a growing finance team in a varied, hands-on role.

You will support month-end processes, maintain financial records and assist with day-to-day finance operations, working closely with senior leadership to ensure accuracy and timely reporting.

This role suits someone with finance experience seeking broader responsibility, exposure to management accounting and financial reporting.

Qualifications

• Previous experience within an accounts or finance role.
• Strong understanding of double-entry bookkeeping.
• Experience with reconciliations and month-end activities.
• Good Excel skills.
• Experience using accounting software.
• Studying AAT or actively developing an accounting career would be advantageous.
• Organised, proactive and keen to learn.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with the preparation of monthly management accounts.
• Maintaining purchase and sales ledgers.
• Performing balance sheet and ledger reconciliations.
• Reconciling supplier statements and resolving queries.
• Supporting payment runs and cash management activities.
• Managing company credit card and expense reconciliations.
• Preparing VAT returns and ensuring compliance with deadlines.
• Assisting with budgeting, forecasting and year-end processes.
• Producing financial reports and analysis as required.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Accountant to join a growing finance team in a varied and hands-on role.

Working closely with senior finance leadership, you’ll play a key role in supporting month-end processes, maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring the smooth running of day-to-day finance operations.
