Hands-on, Varied, and Commercially Valuable Accounting Role

We're working with a well-established and highly respected business in Cumbria to appoint a capable Assistant Accountant who enjoys variety, autonomy, and getting stuck into all aspects of the finance function.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced, detail-focused, and adaptable individual to support the Finance Manager in delivering efficient, compliant, and accurate financial operations across the business.

What You'll Be Doing:

This is a broad and interesting role, covering many aspects of accounting and business administration. Responsibilities include:

• Day-to-day sales and purchase ledger work, including invoicing, payments, credit control, and reconciliations
• Import/export and freight carrier documentation and reconciliations
• E-commerce and bank reconciliations, including multi-currency accounts
• VAT return support and bad debt procedures
• Month-end preparation and fixed asset register support
• Processing expenses and company credit card transactions
• Liaising across departments and occasionally supporting sales and admin teams

What We're Looking For:

You'll thrive in this role if you're:

• AAT Level 2 or 3 qualified (or equivalent) with strong all-round accounting experience
• Excel confident and methodical with a strong eye for accuracy
• A good communicator and natural problem solver
• Comfortable working in a busy and varied environment where priorities can shift
• Familiar with ERP systems (SAP R3P or similar is a bonus)
• Willing to roll up your sleeves and help out across teams where needed

What will you get in return?

• A full time (37.5 hour) permanent contract
• Salary range £28,000 - £32,000 DOE + Discretionary bonus between 8-10%
• 30 days annual leave (including bank holidays) increasing with service
