Performance Resourcing Limited are recruiting an experienced Assistant Accountant to join a leading franchised car dealer group in the Banbury area. You will support the Dealership Accountant and finance team with the day-to-day running of the accounts department.

Based in Banbury, this full-time role offers career development within a busy automotive accounts team. Applicants should have at least 2 years' current accounts experience in a franchised motor dealership and be proficient with

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years' current accounts experience within a franchised motor dealership.
• Experience with purchase ledger, sales ledger and banking reconciliations is expected.
• AAT/NVQ accounting qualification would be advantageous but is not essential.

Responsabilités

• Reconcile and post daily banking and bank statements.
• Prepare and process manual payments.
• Scan and post purchase ledger invoices.
• Investigate and clear unallocated purchase ledger payments.
• Prepare cheques and post costs accurately.
• Post and reconcile petty cash.
• Verify sublet purchase invoices where required.
• Assist with credit control and account queries.
• Prepare the monthly BACS payment run.
• Reconcile supplier statements, sales ledger and purchase ledger.
• Assist with month-end procedures and reporting.
• Support ad hoc projects and cross-department process improvements.

The Role

You will support the Dealership Accountant and finance team with the day-to-day running of the accounts department.

Key Responsibilities

• Reconcile and post daily banking and bank statements.
• Prepare and process manual payments.
• Scan and post purchase ledger invoices.
• Investigate and clear unallocated purchase ledger payments.
• Prepare cheques and accurately post costs.
• Post and reconcile petty cash.
• Verify sublet purchase invoices where required.
• Assist with credit control and account queries.
• Prepare the monthly BACS payment run.
• Reconcile supplier statements, sales ledger, and purchase ledger.
• Assist with month-end procedures and tasks requested by the Accountant.
• Support ad hoc projects and reporting.
• Liaise with other departments to improve processes and communication.

About You

• Previous Vehicle Dealership accounts or finance experience.
• Kerridge accounting software experience is highly desirable, ideally including payroll.
• Previous experience within a franchised car dealership or automotive accounts department is essential.
• Knowledge of purchase ledger, sales ledger, banking, and reconciliations.
• Professional, confident, and well organised.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Able to prioritise workload and meet deadlines.
• AAT or NVQ Accounting qualification would be advantageous but is not essential.
