Gap Personnel Limited is recruiting on behalf of a well-established manufacturing business in Leeds (LS28) for an Assembly Technician or Mechanical Fitter. You will assemble electrical and mechanical components, read engineering drawings, and operate overhead cranes in a modern facility.

The role offers rotating shift patterns (days and back shifts), no regular weekend work, and clear opportunities for ongoing training and career development within a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Minimum three years' experience in assembly or mechanical fitting.
• Experience operating overhead cranes (up to 120 tonnes preferred).
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Good reliability and work ethic.

Responsibilities

The Role

As an Assembly Technician, you will play a key role in the assembly and manufacture of high-quality equipment, ensuring products meet the highest standards of workmanship and performance.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of three years' experience in a similar assembly, manufacturing, or mechanical fitting environment and demonstrate strong technical and problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities

Working Hours

Rotating Shift Pattern (Monday to Friday):

Week 1

• Monday to Friday: 6:00am - 2:00pm

Week 2

• Monday to Thursday: 12:30pm - 10:00pm

About You

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

• Previous experience in assembly, mechanical fitting, or manufacturing engineering.
• Experience operating overhead cranes (up to 120 tonnes preferred).
• Strong mechanical aptitude and practical engineering skills.
• The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• A strong focus on health and safety.
