Job summary

Cubed Resourcing Ltd, Leeds (Wortley area), is seeking a skilled mechanical fitter for a 12-month fixed-term contract at the Wortley site. You will assemble and test bespoke OEM machinery to precise customer specifications, participate in problem solving, and support less experienced colleagues.

The role requires apprentice-trained or NVQ Level 3 in mechanical engineering and 2+ years in similar assembly, with the ability to read drawings and SOPs.

Qualifications

• Apprentice-trained or NVQ Level 3 in mechanical engineering.
• 2+ years experience in a similar mechanical assembly or fitting role.
• Confident reading engineering drawings, assembly instructions, and SOPs.
• Experience working to tight tolerances in a precision engineering environment.
• Familiarity with 6S, lean manufacturing, or structured problem-solving tools (5Y/8D an advantage).
• Any background in metal forming, press tooling, or industrial OEM machinery is a distinct advantage.

Responsibilities

• Assembly and testing of OEM machinery to meet customer requirements and engineering drawings.
• Delegating and supporting semi-skilled colleagues on non-complex assembly tasks.
• Carrying out Operator Asset Care and maintaining 6S standards.
• Escalating parts, drawings, routings, and machine faults through the correct channels.
• Participating in non-conformance investigations using 5Y/8D methodology.
• Following stock control procedures accurately.
• Providing on-the-job training and support to apprentices and new starters.

The Role

Based at the Wortley, Leeds site, you ll play a key role in the assembly and testing of bespoke OEM machinery to precise customer specifications. This isn t repetitive production work you ll be involved in problem solving, supporting less experienced colleagues, and contributing to non-conformance investigations. We re looking for an experienced mechanical fitter who takes quality and safety seriously. You ll need:

• Apprentice-trained or NVQ Level 3 in a mechanical engineering discipline

• Minimum 2 years experience in a similar mechanical assembly or fitting role

• Confident reading engineering drawings, assembly instructions, and standard operating procedures

• Experience working to tight tolerances in a precision engineering environment

• Familiarity with 6S, lean manufacturing, or structured problem-solving tools (5Y/8D an advantage)

• Any background in metal forming, press tooling, or industrial OEM machinery is a distinct advantage

• Flexible, proactive, team-oriented and someone who doesn t need to be told twice to escalat a problem
