Job summary

Milk Education in Leeds is seeking an Aspiring Youth Justice Worker to join as a Behaviour Support Worker. No years of experience required; focus is on attitude, resilience, and passion for helping young people with SEMH needs.

You will work 1:1 and in groups, build trust, and collaborate with teachers and pastoral teams to support healthy development and positive choices. Training and CPD are provided within a supportive school community.

Qualifications

• SEMH, SEND or behaviour support experience (nice to have).
• Youth work or mentoring experience (nice to have).
• Knowledge of trauma-informed approaches or restorative practice (nice to have).
• Any relevant training such as Team Teach or safeguarding qualifications (nice to have).

Responsibilities

• Building trusting relationships with young people and becoming someone they can rely on
• Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
• Helping young people develop emotional regulation, confidence, and resilience
• Supporting pupils who may display challenging behaviours in a calm and positive way
• Working alongside teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams to provide the best support possible
• Encouraging engagement, personal development, and positive decision‑making
