Job summary

BP is seeking an experienced marine engineering professional for the role of Assistant Vessel Manager. The position combines four days in the office with one remote day, offering a clear development path towards Vessel Manager responsibility.

You will support a team of four seagoing maintenance engineers, plan maintenance, and ensure resources and safe delivery across vessels. The role builds hands-on knowledge of vessel operations and maintenance planning.

Qualifications

• Senior Engineering Certificate of Competency or Marine Engineering degree required.
• Experience on LNG carriers or equivalent offshore/marine leadership exposure preferred.
• Strong knowledge of gas-fuelled engines and vessel maintenance planning.

Responsibilities

• Support and coordinate a team of four seagoing maintenance engineers.
• Plan and schedule vessel maintenance activities.
• Ensure maintenance work is resourced and delivered safely.
• Assist with logistics coordination and vessel visits.
• Develop understanding of vessel operations and frontline shipboard challenges.
