Job summary

Supply Desk in Watford is recruiting Aspiring Teaching Assistants to support students across primary, secondary and SEND settings in Watford and the wider Hertfordshire area. The role offers flexible opportunities across full-time, part-time, day-to-day and longer-term placements with dedicated consultant support.

You will work closely with teachers to foster a positive, inclusive learning environment, providing 1:1 and small-group support, and helping pupils with SEND and other learning needs.

What Will You Do as a Teaching Assistant?

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and other school staff to create a positive, supportive and inclusive learning environment.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Supporting teachers with the delivery of engaging lessons.

  • Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils.

  • Helping pupils understand classroom activities and learning tasks.

  • Supporting children with SEND and additional learning needs.

  • Encouraging pupils to become confident, independent and engaged learners.

  • Supporting positive behaviour and classroom management.

  • Helping pupils with their academic, social and emotional development.

  • Building positive professional relationships with pupils and staff.

  • Assisting teachers with classroom preparation and organisation.

  • Following safeguarding procedures and school policies.

Some of our partner schools require Teaching Assistants to provide additional support to pupils with needs including autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, learning difficulties and communication needs. Previous SEND experience is valuable, but it is not essential for every opportunity.
