Job summary

Academics is seeking an Aspiring SEN Teacher/SEN Learning Support Assistant for a specialist school in East Grinstead, West Sussex. The role involves 1:1 and small group support, resource preparation, and safeguarding responsibilities.

Expected hours are Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 16:00, term-time only. Salary ranges from £93 to £105 per day. Start anticipated in September/October with on-site training and CPD. You must have the right to work in the UK and Enhanced DBS clearance may be required.

Qualifications

• Ability to prepare resources for teaching and learning activities.
• Ability to plan learning activities to suit student ability with support from a teacher.
• Personal and medical care including feeding and manual handling where necessary.
• Willing to work 1:1 and in small groups with students.
• Able to develop knowledge and experience to deliver appropriate support.
• Able to encourage the development of social skills and support students' individual needs.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Able to provide behaviour and pastoral support.
• Attend staff meetings and complete appropriate CPD.
• Ensure safeguarding of students.

Responsibilities

• Prepare teaching resources and learning activities.
• Plan lessons with teacher support to match student ability.
• Provide personal care and assist with feeding and handling as needed.
• Work 1:1 or in small groups with students.
• Support social skills development and individual needs.
• Communicate effectively with students, staff and families.
