Job summary

Milk Education is seeking a dedicated SEMH Support Assistant for a primary school in East Leeds. The role is full-time and long-term, starting September 2026, with opportunities for progression.

The ideal candidate may be a Psychology graduate or an experienced SEMH Support Assistant, able to provide 1:1 and small group support, build positive relationships, and adapt approaches to individual needs. Training and permanent placements are available.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEN, SEMH, or additional needs.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building abilities with pupils, staff and families.
  • Compassionate, patient and flexible approach to individual needs.

Responsibilities

A supportive and inclusive primary school in East Leeds are seeking a dedicated and compassionateSEMH Support Assistant to join their team, to work within their resource provision, on a full-time long-term basis, starting September 2026.

Are you a Psychology graduate or an experiencedSEMH Support Assistant looking to build a career in mental health, education or clinical psychology?

The idealSEMH Support Assistant will:
  • Have experience supporting children or young people with SEN, SEMH, or additional needs
  • Possess strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families
  • Be compassionate, patient and flexible when responding to individual needs and behaviours
  • Provide effective 1:1 and small group support to help pupils engage and progress
  • Have a genuine passion for inclusion, emotional wellbeing, and supporting pupils to reach their potential
  • Be confident adapting activities and approaches to meet the needs of pupils within the provision
  • Any additional training or qualifications such as Team Teach, Trauma-Informed Practice, or Makaton would be desirable
