Job summary

Liverpool Women's NHS Foundation Trust invites applications for a Pre-Registration Pharmacy Technician. This two-year training post offers experience across ward and dispensary settings, under supervision, with structured training and assessment to support professional registration.

You will rotate through pharmacy service areas, gain competency in medicines management, dispensing, and patient care, and work under guidance to develop communication and accuracy aligned with GPhC standards.

Qualifications

• GCSEs Maths and English at grade 4 (C) or above.
• Willingness to undertake Level 3 Pharmacy Technician qualification.
• Good communication, organisational and teamwork skills.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively in a busy environment.
• Commitment to learning, development and patient care.
• Experience working in a pharmacy, healthcare, or customer service setting.
• Understanding of hospital pharmacy services.
• Experience using healthcare or pharmacy IT systems.

Responsibilities

• Assist in dispensing, labelling, preparing, and accuracy checking of medicines in line with prescriptions and SOPs.
• Support safe supply and distribution of medicines to wards, departments, and patients.
• Participate in ward-based activities, medicines management and medicines reconciliation.
• Assist with receipt, checking and storage of medicines and deliveries.
• Support stock control processes including ordering, rotation and expiry monitoring.
• Contribute to dispensary, ward and distribution services for timely patient care.
• Provide information to patients and healthcare staff, escalating complex queries.
• Answer telephone enquiries and liaise with pharmacy staff and teams.
• Maintain high housekeeping standards across all pharmacy areas.
• Support service improvement and ensure compliance with legal/regulatory requirements.
• Undertake a Level 3 Pharmacy Technician apprenticeship.
• Rotate through service areas to develop a broad skill set.
