Job summary

NY Highways is seeking a motivated Trainee Supervisor to join our Highways Operations team in North Yorkshire. You will support operational activities across capital schemes, general maintenance, winter works and drainage, while developing leadership skills and progressing through a structured career grade.

The role offers hands-on supervision, collaboration with contractors and stakeholders, and funded training to help you progress from Grade 6 to Grade 7 as your knowledge grows.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering projects or supervising teams in highways/construction or related activities.
• Strong people leadership and coaching abilities with a collaborative approach.
• Good IT literacy, including MS Office and reporting tools.
• Knowledge of health and safety practices and legislation.

Responsibilities

• Supervise day-to-day highway maintenance and improvement works.
• Assist planning and programming of labour, plant, materials and resources.
• Ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently and to quality standards.
• Carry out site inspections, inductions, toolbox talks and safety checks.
