Job summary

Lumai is seeking a junior embedded engineer to build firmware, drivers and RTOS-based control software for its accelerator, working with senior engineers and hardware teams in Oxford. You will perform bring-up, debugging and documentation, progressing modules through unit tests and CI across hardware revisions.

The role emphasizes hands-on problem solving on real hardware with limited reference designs, contributing to a production path as Lumai scales.

Qualifications

Three or more years of embedded C/C++ experience in a hardware product environment.
Working knowledge of at least one RTOS in production context.
Experience with board bring-up activities, including boot loaders.
Comfort with hardware debugging tools: JTAG, oscilloscopes, serial consoles.
Familiarity with Linux kernel concepts and basic driver development.

Responsibilities

Implement and integrate RTOS tasks and inter-process communication for the accelerator management software.
Contribute to board support package bring-up: validate peripheral drivers, configure boot loaders and support first-boot debugging.
Write unit and integration tests for firmware modules and maintain the embedded CI pipelines.
Support hardware debug sessions with JTAG, GDB and benchtop instrumentation.
Document firmware interfaces, register maps and bring-up procedures for internal use.
Work with the senior embedded engineer and hardware teams on new hardware revision planning.
