Job summary

Heidelberg Materials UK is recruiting an Asphalt Plant Operator in Abingdon. The role focuses on safe, efficient operation of the asphalt production facility, with opportunities for training and development.

You will monitor production, perform inspections and maintenance, and coordinate with the order office and site management to meet customer requirements. Full training will be provided and a strong safety culture is emphasised.

Qualifications

• Good general education.
• Basic computer skills essential.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Excel advantageous.
• Experience in manufacturing, construction materials, quarrying, production, engineering, plant operations, logistics, warehousing or heavy industry is beneficial but not required.

Responsibilities

• Operate, inspect, and maintain the asphalt plant to ensure safe, efficient production.
• Carry out plant start-up and shut‑down procedures.
• Maximise production throughput within plant capacity.
• Monitor plant performance and conduct routine inspections.
• Maintain accurate operational and maintenance records and weighbridge duties.
